Date Scones - Refined Sugar Free

Date Scones (naturally sweet)

Ingredients:

  • 1 & 1/4 - 2 cups self-raising flour

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 50g cold butter, cubed

  • ¾ cup chopped dates (soaked in boiling water for 10 mins, then drained)

  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • ¾ cup cream (or half milk, half cream)

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (fan 180°C).

  2. Rub butter into flour, salt, cinnamon until it looks like breadcrumbs.

  3. Stir through dates.

  4. Add milk + honey, mix lightly until just combined. (You might need to go in with your hands, the dough will come across as quite dry)

  5. Turn onto floured board, press into 2cm thick round.

  6. Cut into wedges or rounds. Bake 12–15 mins until golden.
